"Mexican
Americans in Los Angeles"- a new book just published,
written by Alex Moreno Areyan, which celebrates the history of
Mexican-Americans in Los Angeles. Areyan spotlights
Mexican-Americans who have contributed to the history and
culture of Los Angeles in areas such as entertainment and the
arts, sports, education, the military, politics, and community
activism. The book is filled with archival photographs of
the people and landmarks that make up the cultural landscape of
Chicano Los Angeles. Alex Areyan is a retired human
resources administrator and author of "Mexican- Americans in
Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach." My dad, the late Lalo
Guerrero, my brother Dan, and I are in the book in the
entertainment and arts chapter, along with other Chicano music
artists, El Chicano, Geri Gonzalez, Don Tosti, Andy Russell,
Ritchie Valens, Chan Romero, and my teenage band, Mark & the
Escorts. The book is available at Borders, Barnes & Noble,
